The Power of Connection

Ortho-Bionomy works with the body’s inherent ability for self- correction. It has been found to be a safe method for working with structural imbalances, injury and pain. It was developed by Dr. Arthur Pauls, D.O.

Phase 5 bridges the gap between working on the physical body (Phase 4), and working with the bio-field (Phase 6).. In Phase 5, we maintain physical contact, as we develop greater awareness and increase our connection with our client. We follow the client’s lead, a true somatic dialog.

In this class you will experience exercises to increase your awareness, connection and presence. You will learn Ortho-Bionomy principles; and give and receive lots of bodywork, focusing on the ability to follow and support the client. We will work with the neck, torso and low back, extremities and pelvis.. Discover how easy it is to release tension patterns and chronic pain!

There are no pre requisites for this class. Beginners welcome. No experience necessary.

SENSUS is intended as a series of encounters with the various and beautiful forms of the human being…

Knowing anything about who you are cannot be found by reading any book or be anything that anyone else can ever teach you.  This is a form of knowledge that can extend to very subtle levels of the Self and encompasses the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual aspects.  This is a knowledge that comes from your own experience - a felt kind of knowledge – a sensory kind of knowing.  When we say that someone is “sensitive” we mean that this person has this felt or sensory knowledge.

In Sensing and Perception, we will bring awareness to the dynamic creativity of the moment-to-moment expression of the human system through techniques of body positioning, conscious interaction, and focusing.   These simple and safe exercises can be easily incorporated into massage or other bodywork modalities, but are perfectly suited to stand alone as well.  Exercises will cover the entire body and will encourage alignment, balance, and Well-Being.

This class will emphasize questioning and investigating, you will be able to sift through what you think you know and with an open mind allow other kinds of perceptions, values, and noticing to emerge in you.

In SENSUS, we accept the notions of comfort, attraction, and balance as meaningful and measurable qualities of Health, Wholeness, and Well-Being.  The qualities of Health diminish our sense of separateness and isolation and bring us back to a place of feeling connected to the “familiar” space of the self and then to the universal and collective common space of human feeling and experience.

Come play and celebrate with us as we learn to explore, facilitate and serve the natural subtle sensory and perceptive skills and talents with which each of us were born and which make us uniquely human!

Class Fee:  $295 (early-bird discount, paid in full by March 9) / $345 / $175 one day (Sat. only)

In essence, movement is life and life is movement.  We will be learning basic skills and understanding of movement as it relates to assessment, self-awareness, self-correction, and integration through the reflexes of Ortho-Bionomy.  We will explore range, intensity, direction, and timing as we connect the physiology of physical movement to the "felt" sense.  Through listening to, connecting with, and following the client's unique patterns of movements and non-movements, self-recognition occurs, thereby stimulating the natural process of spontaneous self-correction.
Alignment, balance, release, and increased range of motion occur effortlessly within "the art of the flow" and expression of the movement patterns.

This class provides 16 SOBI (Society of Ortho-Bionomy International, Inc) educational units AND 16 NCBTMB CE Hours.

Ortho-Bionomy Isometrics/Isotonics
with Elizabeth Beeson, Registered Instructor of Ortho-Bionomy

Class Dates:
July 7 & 8, 2018
Saturday and Sunday

Class Location:
Quality Inn
607 Leucadia Blvd. (just off Hwy. 5)
Class Hours:  9am - 6pm

Class Fee:  $295 (early-bird discount, paid in full by June 30)                  $345                  $175 one day (Saturday only)

Class Description:

Ortho-Bionomy fundamentally works with the body's natural self-correcting mechanisms.  We employ a variety of techniques that allow the client to awaken movement or response potential in order to initiate the self-corrective and balancing process, isometrics/isotonics is one of these methods.

iso = same + metric = measure or length

A voluntary muscle contraction in which no joint movement occurs and the active muscle(s) length is unchanged.

iso = same + tonic = tone or tension

A voluntary muscle contraction with joint movement, during which client’s active muscle(s) work at the same level of tension or tone throughout the range of motion.

1.    Utilizes our readiness potential-this is a pre-movement phase preparing the body for actual movement.  The readiness potential shows up on an EEG (recording of brain waves) as a little blip before the large blip of the action potential.

2.    Activates reciprocal innervation or reciprocal inhibition.  This is a reflex loop mediated by the muscle spindle cell causing one muscle to relax while the opposing muscle contracts.  This opposing muscle action is necessary for any movement to occur.

3.    Transmits proprioceptor sensory information to the central nervous system from the muscles, tendons, ligaments and joints.

Students will learn simple and safe hands on exercises that will bring release, balance, tone, and increased range of motion to muscles or muscle groups of the body.  Areas of the body include most major joints:  feet and ankles, knees, hamstrings, hips and pelvis, shoulders, elbows, ribcage, and neck.

•  Increase range of motion
•  Strengthen and tone muscles/muscles groups (too slack or too tense muscles)
•  Balance opposing muscles/muscle groups (posture or pain issues)

•  Engage the client
•  Increase the “physical” sense/self recognition
•  Improve circulation and fluid support
•  Increase reflexive (rebound/follow on) sensitivity
•  Connect with emotions and energy patterns “unexpressed”, hyper, or vacant
•  Integrate other forms of bodywork

•  Assist in self-care (neuro-muscular re-education)

Hope to see you in class!

This class provides 16 SOBI educational units which can be applied to Practitioner Training Program with the Society of Ortho-Bionomy International, Inc. AND 16 NCBTMB CE Hours.  8 SOBI units and NCBTMB CE Hours for one day attendance.

Chapman's Reflexes in Atlanta, GA
The Endocrine Connection with Elizabeth Beeson, LMT, Registered Massage Therapy Instructor Registered Instructor of Ortho-Bionomy

Class Dates:
September 22 and 23
Saturday and Sunday

To Be Announced Soon...

Learn the fundamentals of Chapman's reflexes.  This class will cover the history and principles of Dr. Frank Chapman's ground breaking work.  Dr. Chapman, an osteopath, discovered and mapped specific anatomical points on the body that respond consistently to gentle stimulation.  These neuro-lymphatic points are reflexive in their nature, in that the body automatically and spontaneously responds when these points are stimulated.  The response is consistent in that the body's homeostatic mechanism is activated, in other words, the organism's self-adjusting capacity begins.  The organism begins to move toward balance...effortlessly.   These points are also consistent in that, when tender to the touch, they indicate some sort of pathology.  Without knowing the exact nature of the pathology, one may palpate these points to produce significant and effective movement within the physical structure of the body.  Dr. Chapman has written a book interpreting the effects of the stimulation of these "Chapman's Reflexes" and we will use this text as a guide in working through the points on the body. This work is simple and safe and can be used to stimulate a wholistic and spontaneous self-correcting response in the client.  Learn how to gently guide your client toward greater balance of endocrine and hormonal functioning and discover how these factors can relate to the physical structure.   The placement of the points on the body also make Chapman's Reflexes an excellent tool for self-care
